È autore di musica pianistica, vocale, da camera, corale e sinfonica. I suoi lavori sono stati pubblicati su compact disc da diverse case discografiche, (Steinway & Sons, Centaur, Brilliant Classics, Music & Arts, TwoPianists, ecc) ed eseguiti in tutto il mondo in prestigiosi festival (Festival Newport in California, Lang Lang International Piano Festival a Shenzhen in Cina, Festival Chopin in Duszniki Zdroj, l’International Russian Music Piano Competition di San José negli Stati Uniti, ecc).
Gli spartiti delle sue musiche sono pubblicati da Bèrben, Editoriale Documenta, Les Productions d’OZ, Magnum Edizioni, Edizioni musicali Wicky.
Svolge intensa attività concertistica dal 1990 esibendosi in prestigiosi teatri, fra i quali il Rond Point sugli Champs-Elysées a Parigi, il Teatro alla Scala di Milano, Teatro Regio di Torino, nella Casa-Museo di Scriabin a Mosca, nelle Università di Stoccarda e San-Pietroburgo e nei teatri e sale di numerose città fra le quali Barcellona, Liegi, Bruxelles, Charleroi, Mons, Losanna, Dusseldorf, Zurigo.
Ha realizzato compact disc per diverse case discografiche, tra le quali Stradivarius, Tactus, Edizioni Inedita, Video-Radio, Editoriale Documenta, e in allegato a riviste musicali quali Amadeus e Suonare News, incidendo spesso composizioni in prima mondiale.

Nel 1992, concluso gli studi con il massimo dei voti al Conservatorio "L.Canepa" di Sassari, ha conquistato il primo premio in numerosi concorsi musicali (International Competition Silenzio Musica, International Competition "Libertango" dedicato ad Astor Piazzolla, IX Concorso Nazionale di Composizione Corale "Nella Città dei Gremi", Concorso Nestore Baronchelli ed altri).
Insegna pianoforte principale presso il Conservatorio “Luigi Canepa” di Sassari e tiene masterclass.

Pianist and composer Roberto Piana was born in Sassari, on the Italian island of Sardinia, in 1971. He perfected his studies with numerous famous pianists, but owes his training to Isabella Lo Porto, with whom he graduated in piano studies with top marks, at the Music Conservatory of Sassari.
As a pianist, he has performed with great success in numerous theatres such as Rond Point on the
Champs-Elysées in Paris, Teatro Regio in Turin, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, University of Stuttgart, Germany, and Saint Petersburg, Russia, as well as in cities such as Barcelona, Zurig, Liège, Brussels, Charleroi, Mons, Lausanne, and Düsseldorf.
While maintaining a busy performance schedule, Roberto is also committed to the study of lesser known composers such as Ansorge, Gutmann, Ornstein, Rebello, Ricordi, Tellefsen, Wolff, and others. Since 1994, he has authored essays, books, and CDs (Stradivarius, Da Vinci Classics, Amadeus, Tactus, Documenta Edizioni, Suonare News).
As a composer, Roberto Piana is the author of various works for piano, voice, symphonic and chamber music, published by Bèrben, and Editoriale Documenta. Many of his compositions can be heard on CDs released by labels such as Steinway & Sons, Centaur Records, Brilliant Classics, Music & Arts, and TwoPianists. His music is played at major festivals around the world (Newport Festival / California, Chopin Festival / Duszniki Zdroj, Lang Lang Festival / Shenzhen, Festival Chopin in Duszniki Zdroj,Russia, Japan, England, South Africa, Israel, Etc.).
He is a piano professor at the Sassari Conservatory of Music. He holds piano master classes in Italy and Russia (St. Petersburg).
